Research Support Plan (2016 academic year)

General Management Group Click here for the details

We organize support briefing sessions, symposiums, and lectures to share information among Japanese researchers. We provide a contact address in the website to users for public relations. We held technical training courses and workshops to foster young scientists and to facilitate the network. We promote providing basic knowledge of animal model construction and analysis techniques at the technical training courses. Also we promote networking of young scientists, and joint research activities.

We organize symposiums to inform the outcome of the support activities together with Committee on Promoting Collaboration in Life Sciences to promote interaction between domestic and overseas researchers in life sciences as well as to design new support programs.

Support Group for Animal Model Construction Click here for the details

Our support includes construction of animal models such as C57BL/6 mice (required mainly from researchers involving brain science and immunology) (Niigata Univ.), original lines (Kumamoto Univ.), and genetically modified mice with a complex structure of mutant alleles.

Technical support on the advanced genome editing (IMSUT, Tsukuba Univ., and Osaka Univ.) will conduct a speedy construction of animal models using the CRISPR/Cas9 system.

Rat Model Construction Support Group (Osaka Univ. and Fukushima Prefectural Medical Univ.) will construct and provide genetically modified mice<rats?> using CRISPR/Cas9 system, or construct BAC transgenic mice<rats?>.

Support Group for Pathological AnalysisClick here for the details

Experienced pathologists support your research with our analysis technology mainly using optical microscope to conduct pathologic diagnosis on irregularities that animal models (mice or rats) develop due to cancer, developmental anomaly, disorder of autonomic nervous system, inflammatory disease, and autoimmune disease.

Support Group for Physiological AnalysisClick here for the details

We will provide the following physiological analysis support:

1. About 20 behavioral analyses will be conducted at Fujita Health University and Toyama University.
2. Pharmacological analysis will be conducted to extract data and analyze genes of your interest using the related database, the clinical data and genome specimen based on the susceptibility test of the controlled substances.
3. Operational analysis in optical technology will provide and share the technologies that can be widely applicable to the cryobiology in general as focusing on developing a link between optogenetics and neuroscience.
4. Obtained data analysis using multifunctional electrode will provide the multi-functional integrated electrodes capable of detecting electric wave signal and electric stimulation of the deep tissue to investigate the physiologic function. Also we provide more biocompatible and durable metallic electrode.

Support Group for Molecular Profiling Click here for the details

We will provide the following molecular profiling support:

  1. To determine or predict the target molecules for the compounds of your interest, effects of the compounds on cell proliferation and gene/protein expression will be evaluated based on the cell line panel, transcriptome analysis, and proteome analysis. In addition, more information will be deposited to our database to improve its accuracy.
  2. The influence of the compound on the morphology and other phenotypes of cultured cells will be evaluated.
  3. We evaluate predetermined numbers of compounds with each test, employing the cell line panel assay as the first step.

We will provide the following molecular screening support:

  1. We prepare and distribute the inhibitor kits and the deposited chemical libraries as a continuing support that the former support group has been working on.
  2. We design and prepare siRNAs optimized for research purpose. We distribute microRNA library containing important miRNAs.
  3. We provide analytical and technical support using shRNA libraries.

We will provide the support other than above:
We set up a website for bioinformatics to provide comprehensive databases and analysis software, as well as a contact address for public relations.
